SEA Games organizers start selling merchandise, memorabilla

November 11, 2019

Organizers of the 2019 Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games) announced selling of merchandise and memorabilia for the multi-sport event fans and supporters.

In line with the government's effort to promote the 30th Sea Games, a small pop-up activity  was set up at a mall in Pasay to showcase the official three medals and various merchandises.

Some of the displayed clothes and jackets donned different colors and designs as well as the event's logo.

The fabric is made of cotton and breathable - which can be a good clothing option for those who will watch the sport events.

Raul Floresca, marketing director of the 2019 Sea Games, told The Daily Manila Shimbun in an interview the previewed purchasable items will be made available once the event starts on Nov 28.

"The merch(andise) will be available in the fan zones. (There will be fan zones in) New Clark City, Clark parade ground, Clark Museum, Subic Bay and World Trade Center," he said.

"It will be sold until the last day of the event on December 11," he added.

Floresca added some SEA Games-related collectibles such as pins, tags, and drinking bottles will be available.

Prices for t-shirts, according to the marketing director, will start at P695. The jackets will be sold at P3,950 and the bags can be bought for P700.

"(The items will be available at the fan zones) until stocks run out. Next year, if there are still stocks left for the 10th ASEAN Paralympic Games, people can buy it," explained Floresca.

Aside from pop-up activities in malls, there will be a school tour in Metro Manila to promote the SEA Games and enlighten youth on different sporting events.

"It’s mostly activation for students because it's really to promote the game and the new sports we have 56 sports. Of the 56 sports we have at least 13 new sports this year - this is the most number of collection of sports in the Sea Games," he reiterated.

"So what we want to do with the university tour is to promote all of the sports with the youth. We want to promote awareness," added Floresca.

About 11,000 athletes from 11 countries will participate and face-off at 56 sports in 53 different venues across the country for the 30th SEA Games.

"We would like to call every Filipino to support the 30th SEA Games. This is not just a sporting event. It’s a national event and it is our opportunity to shine as a nation," Floresca urged.

"We want to show all the nations coming to the Philippines what we truly are capable of," he said. Cristina Eloisa Baclig/DMS
